Wrong oil cooler O-rings?
Anybody experience this? Know there has been a LOT of oil cooler discussions, but I searched the forums and nothing I found was directly on point.
Ordered a set of O-rings for my late year 85 6.9 from the IH dealership. Special order, waited a week for them. They arrived via mail Saturday, and they didn't look right.
The number 1807563C1 O-rings, (inner O-rings) which the dealer said was correct, was about as thin as a dime. The outer O-ring (closest to the outside) was number 1804414C1, and appeared to be correct.
From what I took off, the innermost O-ring (which was orange, but I know color isn't important) was almost, but not quite, as wide as the outer O-ring.
Did they change things? From what I am seeing, if I installed the thinner rings, there just isn't enough meat on them to keep the oil from wandering into the coolant.
This cooler should be the new type. It has the two O-rings on the bundle, not installed in the end caps like the 83-84 years.
