Question Fuel Pumps

I need new pumps/sending unit's for both tanks. Just wondering what brands people have had problems with and what brands do people like. I'm trying to stay away from OEM because Motorcraft wants an arm and a leg for the assembly. Thanks

Rockauto.com carries a good selection of quality pumps at reasonable prices. Maybe check partsguyed.com for a good price on OEM.

I used Airtex because I could get it that day. I have found that the sender does not read fuel level accurate until I get below half a tank of fuel.

I got what I paid for, cheap prices = cheap parts.

When the time comes to have to replace them again, I will go back with motorcraft even with the higher prices.

I BOUGHT THE AIRTEX. I PAID 136.00 FOR THE FRONT TANK. I USED MY OWN SENDING UNIT AND I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT AT ALL.

I would not get Airtex. They don't seem to last very long.

I would only get a Motorcraft one. If nothing else at least the Bosch. Amazon has the best price I can find for Motorcraft.

I just had to replace mine a couple weeks ago. I bought the motocraft one from rockauto because the last one I put in (whatever was in stock at carquest) did not last very long. It did not come with a sending unit, but I used the OEM one that came with the truck.

If you plan on keeping the truck several years, get a motorcraft.

Oh... and you wont have to spice the wires together inside the tank. having those wires spliced together in the middle and bouncing around in there makes me nervous.

Amazon Delphi Pumps

Recently replaced both fuel pumps on my 1996 F350 XLT with the pumps listed below. At less than $100 each I thought I'd roll the dice and try non-Motocraft at 1/4th the cost. Parts look good and fit well, I'll let you know if I run into any problems.

Good luck
JJ

Solder don't splice

Oh ya. And I recommend that you solder the wires inside of the tank and use a couple pieces of shrink tubing.

Soldering will ensure a solid electrical connection thereby preventing disconnect or even worse intermittent contact.
