6.7 with Cracked Valves
#2
I would be interested in knowing if it is a chassis cab, run a PTO all day for a lift bucket truck or a dump bed. Is it a work truck for a utility company? Tow vehicle, commercial or just your average owner that does a little of everything. Tuned? Gas in the fuel?
I'm sure it's not gas but would be nice to know more info.

It's pretty refreshing to see a video done by that guy without the Ford bashing. I've seen a couple of his that are really pretty bad. This one didn't appear to have that negative bias, and had some genuine technical value.
Looks like it dropped a couple valves in that torn up cylinder, I'm curious to see the update.

I watch his videos. If I saw what he sees in his videos on a daily basis, I'd have the same opinion of he 6.0 and 6.4 that he does.
I pretty much already do though.....
I do believe this engine is out of a cab and chassis. Ford (as it seems to me) is living up to their diesel reputation with that truck....
This engine should run just fine in a commercial tow truck application. If its that light duty where it can't handle daily abuse (towing, pto, heavy weight, dusty conditions, etc) than its not in the same league as the Cummins.

It is and it's nice to see he's upped his game as he really has access to some good info on 6.7Ls in the wild. He and I had a chat a couple of months ago and he agreed to drop the trash talking and keep the commentary useful.

Remember that the cab/chassis engine isn't the same as the pickup engine. There are many cab/chassis trucks that aren't run as hard as some pickups are, and yet they still have the problem with the dropped valves.
From what I've seen this isn't a duty cycle problem, it's a design problem with the cab/chassis versions.

Hi Mike,
I don't think this is a sign of things to come, the issues with chassis/cab trucks seem to be relatively rare and I have yet to hear of a pickup truck model with this problem. Overall these engines have seemed far more reliable than the last two Navistar engines that we've seen in Ford trucks in years past.
Time will tell, but from what I can tell I'd rather own this engine in ten years than either the 6.4L or 6.0L.

well opinions are somewhat well you know the rest. reality is there are 100's of thousands of happy 60 and 6.4 owners. I love my 6.0 and would not give it up for a 6.4 and possibly not for a 6.7 yet either. IMO the 6.4 has some major flaws. 6.0 is one of the better engines out there, but yes also pleged with some flaws and some not so minor.
so far as a cummins is concerned they also have there issues to think otherwise you are nothing more then a fool. same holds true for duramaxx.
now on to the " cracked valve " issue. first off the guy pretty much is not saying what type of unit this truck is.. however he failed to hide the 19.5" tire. its a f450/f550 cab chasis. this is a varrent of the 6.7 that is found in the f250-f350 units.
His knowldge is so great on this subject he has no clue about why the valve are cracking. I have covered it this in a prior thread about the very same concern.
IMO the guy is tring to instill fear were there should be none. so far the product has had a pretty good run. The issue we are seeing are not common and are far and few between.
take it or leave it thats my .02 worth
