EB mileage levels just like 7.3 PSD levels ?
Cryptic title. I know.
Seems from what I have been reading and experiencing, there are 2 distinct levels of mileage on the ecoboost trucks, good and bad. Just like what I encountered when I had my 2000 F350 7.3 truck. You either got poor or good and there was no between figures. Some trucks got 13 mpg, some got 18mpg. My F350 was one of the good trucks, but my EB is one of the suckass trucks. I get an average of 15-16mpg, on country paved roads, on freeway, in town, etc. The only time I seen my average climb is when I was driving 54mpg with a stiff tailwind. I have done hand calculations and talked to other EB owners. My truck seems to suck, bad.
I drive empty most of the time, pulled a trailer once since I bought it. Its a 2011 Lariat CC SB 4x4 with a cheap floppy bed cover. I have all of 8000 miles on it and probly wont see a lot more. This is a lot of money to spend for a teeny tiny motor that is sported to get 20+mpg. I have the truck parked for the most part and drive my MB ML500, with a 5.0 v8 that gets 20-22 mpg.
Yes, this is more of a rant than a posting. Just a little pissed off that a $45,000 v6 truck gets worse mileage than the v8 models.

Mileage seems to depend on the truck size and rear axle ratio. My boss's King Ranch shows around mid 15's, but he has a heavy foot too. It's reported that towing mileage is not stellar due to the turbo's spooling causing more fuel to be injected to keep the engine from running lean, and to keep the turbo's fed.

I get 19mpg every tank in my 7.3, same as the 6.0L and the EB gets 22-23mpg...and looking to get more..
You have to keep the turbos from boosting to get any kind of mileage..
I was this close to getting a 6.7(since I am a diesel guy). But with the EB getting 30% better mileage and diesel $.30 more a gallon, it was a no brainer..
All of mine are 2WD, cause the 4X4's lose at least 3mpg..
