My $250.00 dollar farm truck build thread

So I bought this truck a few weeks ago from a farmer for the outragous sum of $250.00 dollars. It runs perfectly, the a/c blows cold, and the 4 wheel drive works great too. It has virtually no rust! My plans are to lift it, bigger wheels and tires, paint, install power windows and locks. And then drive it everyday. Here are some pics

makes my 500 doller 88 look expensive! but the cheap ford trucks are always the best! I think that a trip to the car wash should be first. i'll bet that engine will still shine!

Here's a few picks of what I've done so far.
I replace the front fenders and doors from an XLT(power windows and locks ).
Installed F250 coils in the front
Installed a 3 inch body lift
2 inch blocks in the rear
I bought the XLT chrome grill and, heaadlights, and chrome front bumper
Bought a chrome rear bumper
Installed some 35X12.50X15 Procomps and American racing wheels. I found them on Craigslist for $500.00 bucks! There are virtually brand new.

I've still gotta finish the wiring for the windows and locks and then align the doors a little better. After that I've got to take all the little dents out and send it off for some new paint. I still havent decided on a color yet. Any suggestions are welcome .

I've invested $1182.00 dollars(including the purchase price) as of this point and a whole lot of blood and sore muscles. It seems like every damn bolt I touch on this truck fights me to death.

I would consider a nice maroon red or even a copper like color, thats what Im gonna do with mine when the paint gets bad enough and I have the money stored away for a repaint, get the truck painted a nice copper color and redo the engine!

Thanks for all the kind words guys .

I really like the copper color idea too. That may have moved to the top of my list.

As far as the engine mods go...
I'm a drag racer at heart with 2 5.0 mustangs that are pretty heavily modified. I have an old TFS headed 408 on a stand in the garage that will probably make its way into the truck eventually. Before that all happens I will need to convert it to mass air, beef up the tranny, and put lockers in it. IMy intentions are to make it an every day driver so it can't get too radical or it will end up in the garage with the stangs and my GF would kill me

I believe you can't use a locker in the TTB, but you can make it limited slip, the rear could use a nice Eaton E-locker.

For the money, this is a great option. I don't think they're big in the domestic truck world, but they're very popular in the Toyota community. You don't need to worry about a compressor or running wires. If I'd kept my Land Cruiser, this is the route I would have gone.

Are you lifting it more or cutting in flares? Also how much lift did the 250 springs give you?

maybe I missed this but is it a 5.0 or a 5.8 in the truck???

Looks good so far!

So did you get 2 more alloys or did you just put the steels on one side and the alloys on there other??? LOL...

PS: put a detroit locker in the rear and forget about needing a TTB locker. You'll only need a TTB locker if you go rock crawling or serious trailing. For the regular DD the rear locker will give you better traction year round and if you need more to get thru mud or snow in IA or NE you'll be fine with the stock TTB. You changing gear ratios?

PSS: the most I paid for the 5 below was $600ish for Thumper and under $400 fro the rest! I haven't got a drivable 4x4 for $250 though. You stole that thing! Gotta love the cheap midwest deals!
