^ Exactly. Ford Corporate Blue introduced in 1966, used into the mid 1980's.

Ford Dark Corporate Blue was used from 1966 and forward...up to 1980. Then Fomoco went gray IIRC (yuck).

There are 2 different Ford blues I've found. Theres the Ford blue we're all talking about, then theres a slightly darker Ford blue. I've been using the Dupli-Color stuff.....theres DE1601 Ford Blue and DE1621 Old Ford Blue. The Old Ford Blue looks to be a shade darker and I think its the color on the truck engines. I painted my engine the lighter color and then realized it didn't look right. I think the darker color is what was used on the later 70's trucks...not sure about earlier trucks. But then again I could be all eff'd up!!! Now Ford Red.......hehe. Lets not go there....

I did the same thing 79. I'm only 28 so if I ask some seemingly obvious questions bear with me. I'm more of a stock look upgraded performance type of person. Using the old ford blue (darker), seems more "correct" from what I've seen in wrecking yards and so on. Finishing up the air cleaner now

I painted my trans/transfer case Ford blue (brighter) and plan on painting the engine the same. I don't know what's stock, but I like how this blue pops against the black frame.

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a204/KBrian/Truck/b33a2722.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

*It has dulled down some since it's been painted, that pic was fresh paint.

Krylon #1923, Dupli-Color #1606 and Plasti-Kote #224 are a few of the rattle can paints closest in color to Ford Corporate Blue, personally i think Plasti-Kote #224 is the closest in color to the original factory paint.

Yeah I actually just painted mine, Dupli-Color, Old Ford blue and my father-in-law who is a custom car builder and painter said it's still not as dark as it's supposed to be. Damn it!
