1995 Bronco, 5.8 battery life...

Ok, so I just used up the life on my second Diehard “gold” battery on my 1995 Eddie Bauer Bronco. I am a little tired of them going bad 2 months after the warranty expires. Who can tell me what a good battery is these days? Interstate? Motorcraft?

Any and all opinions are welcome.

-John

If they're going bad that quickly, you might want to consider pulling the alternator and having it bench tested (i.e. advanced or autozone). Just my $.02.

The last battery that I purchased was at Sears (Die Hard, I think). I didn't have an issue with that one.

Battery life on your normal battery is only considered to be 4 years. And you have to keep the water levels good in them for best results.

Maintenance free batteries last longer and you dont have to watch the water in them because they are sealed.

Things like heat, vibration and heavy load will shorten the life of any battery. Make sure you have a hold down on your battery.

I agree you should have alternator checked. Unless you just happened to get two bad batteries there's no way they should be crapping out that fast. Did they come with a warranty.

Are you letting the batteries run completely down and then re-charging them? No way they should be lasting such a short time.
