Thanks guys. I hope to be legally driving Betsy soon.

I promise to make a video for the "Through the windshield" thread when I can do the drive legally.

And, I'll upload a pic to the "Let's see your truck right now" thread then also.

Until then, I'm probably pretty much just an observer on here.

Well, it's been almost a month since I added anything here. But, good news! I applied for the insurance this morning, should have Betsy registered on Tuesday (thanks to my wonderful wife), and may be driving her to the DMV for inspection later this week. Fingers crossed everything goes as planned.

Thanks Ray. Yes I'm excited. I have to go out of town again tomorrow, but my wife volunteered to get Betsy registered while I'm gone. She's cool like that!

Cool! My son and I should have Albatross, our '56 F500, inspected this week also. Wanna race?

Hey Joe you think the wife will take Betsy around the block before you get back?

I'll race you to 5 mph! That's about all I could win with 5.14:1 rear gears!

I love the name Albatross. How long has she been hanging around your neck?

I asked her, after I read this. She's never had to double clutch a vehicle, and her answer was something about a snowball's chance in a very hot place...

We've had the very large and overly obvious Albatross for almost three months. She should be inspected tomorrow - with some luck. There is a story behind the name. Build thread coming soon after inspection. She has a Y-block 239, a heavy T98 synchro four speed and a Timken 6.200 (the label actually reads that). It may well beat you to the five MPH mark!

OK, I just checked your pics. Yes, I bet you would win the jump start. You'd definitely take me in 2nd gear, since yours is synchro and mine is a crash box. You'd be long gone before I'd stop grinding...

Like we old tractor boys do it at times, a slow race. See who can idle down, gear down the slowest and go the distance.
