I'm thinking of replacing stock exhaust with custom stacks that come up thru the truck bed just behind the cab.

I have a 7.3 Powerstroke. What's the best size exhaust to put on it? Do custom exhausts hurt engines in the long run? It seems to me if they help the engine run cooler, especially when towing, then it should help in the long run.

If you know a good place to get an exhaust kit, please let me know.

You can get a stack kit all day long on almost any aftermarket site. Its not gonna hurt anything itll help the engine breath better. I dont believe there is any prefrence but from what Ive seen in peoples trucks is bigger is better in the looks department. I for one want dual side pipes not stacks

 

If you do much towing, the stacks may not be what you want, unless you don't mind the trailer turning black.

 

Yeah, good point. I guess I can always wash our travel trailer. We go camping only two times a year. (wish it was more)
