Can IPR shut off truck??
I just wanted to thank everyone for all of the help over the years. My truck has been running great till about 2 weeks ago. I actually havent had to ask a question in forever, but i cant seem to find the answer to this by searching, so here it is. I know the o rings have gone bad on the IPR given some of past symptoms, but can the bad orings just turn a truck off?? I have had no running issues, just cranking issues. After the oil warms up, if i cut it off, it will not crank for hours. No smoke, tack moves, turns over real fast, then after a while and when it is good and cool, fires right up. Runs like a beast....untill about 2 hours ago I was going about 40, and it just turned off. All fuses look good, tack is still moving, wait to start comes on, has fuel, but just wont crank. So now i dont know if it is because of the IPR or if its some problem combined with the IPR. I have the oring kit, but i am waiting on my buddy to tack weld that fancy homemade socket/wrench for me. Is it even possible for the bad orings to cut the truck off? Or do you guys think maybe it is actually a bad sensor, or ... I am out of ideas, any suggestions??
Thanks again

bad orings will become noticable when the truck gets fully warm and the oil can leak by and drop pressure. so it will be more of a stutter and stall kind of deal.
try new orings from riffraff, super fast shipping and its better to try and save it than buy a new one like i just did. mine actually died and 284$ later she runs mint again.

thanks for the help. I was able to finally get the dang thing off, and when the 1 1/8 nut came out, the internal part was left in the hole. It didnt come out in one piece. It wasnt broken, but the small piece that looks like it threads into the nut part, was unthreaded. Also all of the orings were craked and splitting open. Now my question is, is it ok for the sensor to come out in two peices? I had seen a blown up pic of a disassembled IPR before, but after searching i cant seem to find it again. What do you guys think?
Side note, i took the fpr off and loosened the fuel filter to have more room. And when i checked the small filter mounted on the bottom of the FPR, it was almost half filled (the small filter not the cup itself) with gunk and what looked almost like pieces of plastic. Is that normal. It actually has me a little worried, it looks a lot like the boats i work on that have been running the 10% ethanol gas, that just eats the old fuel lines. Any ideas?
