I have not painted any emblems, but have seen some emblems that were powder coated with the chrome looking powder....they looked great. The problem is the money that you put into someone powder coating your parts, could have gone towards the new chrome.

$200? Are you talking total cost for the ford crest on the front of the hood and the F-100 emblems on the side? What about the boomerangs around the F-100??

find some good used ones on ebay. Or buy one new one now and as you get more money replace your old with the new... or don't put the boomerangs on till later...

no don't paint...just fork out the doe...you'll be happier with the result...or find a local who can re finish the chrome...I'd do it in nickel as it is tougher...

Here is the picture.

I sanded the emblem down to the metal. First with 100 grit and down to 220. Shot a coat of primer on it and painted with Rustoleum Specialty Metallic Silver can. Although the can says glossy, it is not. It is actually just what I wanted.

The grill was painted argent from the paint shop, but I am thinking about respraying to match the emblem. I think the emblem color looks better than the grill.

I am going to take the one I have to the college that has a machine shop and see if they can make another one. If not so be it I will use what I have.

I spent $200, but got the hash marks, and the V-8 for that much. I also spent another $75 for the front crest, and side "F-100" emblems. I had a usable set of boomerangs.

Gaser, I like the look of that. I'm in the same boat, my letters on the front cowl are all pitted and I don't want to chrome since everything else is stainless. I may pick up a can of that and give it a try.

the center hood trim and f1 letters on the front and sides (chrome) of my 49 were pitted. i'm going with a bebop's fiberglass grill. i decided to paint the letters, grill bars and hood trim with rustoleum metallic matte nickel. here's the kicker, even though my hood spears are stainless and in pretty good shape, i painted those matte nickel so everything would match. i'm carrying it into the cab, sunvisors, radio delete, speaker cover, glove box door, ash tray and door inspection plates. nothing is installed yet, will do some pics when complete.

Can you post a picture? I would love to see it due to my '48 f2 being so bad.
