It ran great for the first 800 miles then I noticed oil slobering out of the dip stick. I had the guy that help me work on it take a look and he said it needed rings. 300 miles later it was blowing oil out of the dip stick tube. There is oil lots of oil comeing out. There is tons of blow by enough to push the dip stick out about 2 inch if u hit the throtle. U can hear a wihsle at ideal comeing from it. Can any one plz help me wit this. I do no he had to make a tube for the cdr valve, he broke the old one. I was there when we pulled it apart but he put it back to gether.

So you check the oil everyday.........cold or hot??
DieselDon wrote this info.....
Oil consumption, and the proper checking of the oil levels in Ford diesels comes up periodically. Ford dipsticks are calibrated for hot oil. The 10 quarts in the IDI engines expand about 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart as the oil heats up, and contracts the same amout after cooling. If you check the oil first thing in the morning ( which I grew up doing ) the engines will all indicate oils level below full, but when checked hot, will ( after a 10 minute drain time ) the oil level is usually at full. If you are checking the oil cold, and keeping the level at full, you are actually over filling the engine which will burn of the extra rapidly.
Suggestion: Check oil hot after 10 minute drain time.
Don't add until level reaches add line ( 2 quarts ).
In my days at Ford this often cured, or at least improved, the apparent oil consumption complaints.
As for the cracked heads you could have done that on removal....... you must remove the head bolts in reverse order of tightening one.....1/8 turn at a time around...

One head was cracked from side to side just about right down the center, the heat sink was gone as well. The other head look newer but had some shmall hair line cracks in it it was the one that was seeping. Now when I bought the truck I figured it was just head gaskets. But low compersion on the drives side and instant pressure in the coolant on start up made me think it was like that when I got it.

ok i been scratching my head all morning while ive been looking at this thing the oil level is in the middle of the cross hatch. the cdr valve had a little bit of oil in it maybe a drop or 2. it might not have beeen a good idea but i started it up with the cdr off and it juast had a good bit of blow by. i shut it off to put it back on and do the same thing, a old man across the street has his own shop and had to come over to pick at me. he wanted to c wat i was talking about so i cranked it up. and smalll amount of oil started to run out and down the dip stick tube with the cdr off. what the hell can cause this. if i can figure out how to post a video i will.

Ok the info is helping a lot. The smoke is pretty much constant and the motor got hot enough at some point befor I got it to crack a head. I think im going to get a compression teaster this week. All the piston tops looked ok when the heads were off. I was scared this might happen after the compression was back up
