Need some help choosing a system

For starters it is for a 2010 f350. I already have a pioneer head unit. I am mainly undecided on a sub/amp setup. I am looking for something that hits hard and will sound good. I have got quotes from different local audio shops but am even more confused. I have one telling me a probox behind the rear seat with a 10" Arc audio sub with a Arc 300 watt amp and focal componet door speakers is the best way. The other shop wants to build a ported box behind the rear seat with 4-jl audio 8w3 pushing 250 watts to each with jl amps and jl componet sets. I am told one 10" will out do the 8's and viceversa. Both are fairly expensive routes( which I am ok with) but not sure what te best way to go is. Any advice would be appreciated

Forget the 8's. If you want thump go at least 10's, 12's are even better.

Check out the boxes at BoxWorx and Super Crew Sound.

Once you decide on a box and subs, you can figure out an amp. I'm looking at 2 Pioneer TS-SW3001s4's myself and probably a box from SCS (pretty much the same box as BoxWorx but for $130 less). I'm also honed in on the MTX RFL600D wired to 2 ohms for the amp. It's fan cooled and relatively small.

As for door speakers it all depends on what you want to spend. Sure Focals are nice, but you can have a great sounding system for far less.

Go with 8's for your mid bass and 12's for sub bass.
You have plenty of space to do something creative.

I suggest watching this video: (hope I don't get flagged for posting a video)

Do you have a center console. I put 2/10s in my 95 F250 in the console area & used the same box in my 96 F150 EB. It had 2/6.25 chambers downfiring. It hit hard as hell with 2 MTX subs.

Lariat, can you post some pics of that center console with subs? That's what I'm building right now in my regular cab '96.

if it's the stock head unit from ford rip it out if your running stock speakers rip those out to don't half *** a system for your truck you can go midlevel and have a great system and it's only a few dollars extra as far as a

sub my favs are from part express the tang bang or the titanic mkIII
amp I run JBL stuff my friend is a JBL dealer and I get good prices when you buy an amp the things I look for aren't the watts but the rms the amp does and at what ohms I then compare the rms the amp does to what my speakers can handel I run separate amps for subs and midrange done it for years I think you get a better sound so you will need a mono block amp and a good 4channel amp

Titanic
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=295-414

door speakers I am in love with the morels there cheap 150/pair but offer great midrange and with a 1000watt amp louder then what most want

Morel

as far as head unit I am using an older pioneer 700bt it's ok I have a few issues with it but I love how it's windows so you can mod it ie like free maps with traffic / red light cameras able to watch videos on the front without using some stupid toggle switch bypass I can plug in my hard drive to the USB and watch any video on the fly frm the 500gigs to choose frm major issue is the stupid pico fuse in the whole unit which is why I sold it :/

but to answer your ? 300watts won't move nothing but those jl subs if there the w7 they hit super hard and require very little poor to run in fact the reason they blow is cause people use to much power but get the 10's or 12's if you can it cost more but the jl subs will give you more boom then you want they are a big speaker and require a big box is why I don't want them I want something compact and under the seat out of the way type of thing

What kind of Pioneer unit do you have? Are you still able to use the steering wheel controls? I want to replace my stock radio.... was curious. Thx.

The JL Audio 10" will work just fine, unless you want every screw in the cab to come lose and rattle like a cheap trunk mounted geddo system.

If you really want to beat the crap out of your ears get the JL Audio 12" and an Alpine Amp
Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.
12W6v2-D4 - Car Audio - Subwoofer Drivers - W6v2 - JL Audio

This setup is not cheap $700.00 but will suck the air out of your mouth and bow your windshield lose. Be sure you understand the ohms matching or you will burn a coil up in 5 seconds. Putting a 4 ohm amp on 2 ohm speakers is asking for trouble unless you add extra speakers or resistance. One reason they make most speakers in different ohms to match the amps you use.
