mine gets best mileage in the tow setting with the tw chip. The econo setting is way under the tow. Go figure. Maybe it's the way I drive or something.

I just put mine in yesterday and I like it in the tow tune rather than econo.. Since Ive had it for a day...and yesterday wasnothing but max tune tearin up town...today going to work I kept it at tow.
Econo was cool cuz the shift points were way better... but it was sluggish

Buying aftermarket programming with the sole intention of wanting better economy is a sure fire way to be disappointed. Some trucks react to aftermarket calibrations better than others.

However, if you're already seeing 20 MPG (on paper), then I would say that you are about as good as you're going to get.

Edge does not make an "Eco" programmer, I assume you mean "Evo" (as in Evolution).

If you like the way the truck runs and it gives you an honest-to-goodness 16-20 MPG, I'd stick with it....especially if the price was right.

Oh, and this isn't a slam to any aftermarket tuning company. Heck, I work for one and I wouldn't want you to pay $400+ for something that you don't need.

I check the truck regularly for fuel mileage and it's usually close to 16 and most of that drive is under 55mph and at times with a light trailer

Depending on the age of the programmer (Evo2 or "Game Boy" style), the tuning in it can be quite aggressive which is good for mileage and power.

Going to more recent tuning you may actually experience a loss in power and mileage. Seriously. The strides made in 7.3L tuning over the past couple of years focus more on driveability and tuning that has more friendly cylinder pressures. I'm not saying that the tuning you have is unsafe, but it may be more aggressive than most stuff available today.

Thanks for the compliment, but "smart" has many different meanings. In this case, I just happen to know what goes into tuning one of these things and have seen this stuff in person.

I make a good smartass, though.

I didn't balance the 49's. Everything I tried made them worse. Weights, beads, balance rings, etc.

The only speeds that really caused any issues were 30, 45, and 60. Anything above or below those approximate speeds and they were good. Even then, there was just a slight bit of bounce to them.

The 44's had weights on them. No issues at all.

You derailed your own thread. That's funny.

Anyway, I don't understand your question.

Why would I care about derailing I'm asking is it the Dana 60 anything done to make it handle the stress of the tires? I'm guessing you have gears but anything else special the front or reserves to make them stronger
