Need advice on new truck purchase

Hey guys, new member here.....

So, I currently drive an 02 GMC 2500HD 6.0 gasser. I've decided to get a crew cab truck, 3/4-ton HD of some sort. I know I don't want a Dodge, so that's out. I like my 02 HD but I need a crew cab and I certainly don't want another 6.0 gaser so I am leaning heavily to a diesel. I've never owned a diesel and don't know much about them in pickups. I like the looks of the Ford Super Duty's but don't know anything about them at all. I'll prob do a 4" lift on whatever I end up getting, and that leaves me with questions of how the Fords are for lifts / expensive to lift like the GM's are, is it a good front suspension design, do they have motor / trans issues, etc? I'd be leaving the motor / trans stock, so not planning on performance mods. This will be a truck I'll keep for 10yr probably.

Having said that, I've been a GM man all my life, but since the buy out and take over by this marxist administration in power and giving GM to the unions I refuse to buy another new GM product. I also don't care for the Chevy dog house since 02, so that leaves me looking at the 06-07 GMC CCSB Dmax / Ally or a 08+ Ford SD CCSB with I guess the PS Diesel.

I know that the opinion here will be biased, but also know that some of you own / have owned both the Ford and GM trucks. If you could give some advice it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

PS. Im not trolling.....I am for the first time in my life SERIOUSLY considering buying a Ford truck and would like your input to help in my decision making.

My GM caught fire and my Ford's have just needed repairs so far, and the Dodge Dakota I had was just plain junk, but honestly it is all in your experience with what you get, doesn't matter the make it's either a good one or it's not, although I am a gasser not a diesel fan.

Cross to the darkside. haha. Seems like your on a good track. I love my 08 super duty, but I'm relatively new to the game. From what I've read on this forum so far, the trucks are great. Some have issues, some don't. It's all in what you want.

I hear ya brother. I will not ever buy a Dodge or a GM product ever again. I lost all respect for them after they took the bailouts. I don't care if they come out with the greatest truck ever that gets 50 mpg.

They're fairly cheap to lift, don't have the ball joint and front end problems like the Chevrolet and the Torqshift is a great transmission. The extra room in the CC is nice, I traded in a extended cab Craprolet (I had mental issues when I bought it!) and haven't had a singel issue.

Welcome to FTE, lots of info here. Remember we are somewhat bias on this site as the name implies.

If you are going new you can't go wrong with a new 6.7 diesel or a 6.2 gasser. A diesel is a big investment if you don't need it for towing. Try them both and compare them to GM's offerings. I am sure you will make the right decision. let us know what you decide...
