Usually it doesn't, a front LS diff was available as a special order only so it's a rare find.

For on-road vehicles in most situations, you don't want a limited slip on your steer axle (especially on low-traction surfaces while turning!).

What year are the trucks in question? And do they both have the same engine and tire sizes?

Well.. and automatic trans does consume a bit more power so all else being equal the manual will feel a bit stronger. On top of that the M5OD had 5 forward gears versus 4 with the E4OD and the only gear that matches between them is 4th in the manual and 3rd(drive) with the auto.

In 4hi on a packed dirt road? Yes.. there's simply too much traction and not enough motor. On lose soil it should be able to break them lose but it won't spin them for very long. This is a 150hp motor after all.
