I have a set of the stainless western jr. swing-lock mirrors. I can't find a part number on them but they are stamped "rotunda". Would that make these aftermarket clones or factory service replacements? Thanks, Jason

Rotunda was FoMoCo's name for accessories in the early/mid 1960's.

Can anyone tell me what these mirrors are? I recently purchased a '62 Unibody and these were the mirrors that were on it:

Also, it looks like the door slot for the original mirrors has been shaved:

Am I missing something? Thanks!

Those type mirrors are most likely for cars not trucks.

Aftermarket (JC Whitney, Western Auto and etc) not genuine Ford.

This mirror resembles the type (B5AZ-17696-A ~ reproduced) used on 1955/57 Ford Custom/Fairlane & 1955/60 Thunderbird, but the base is too short.

Choices

I have the rectangle mirrors on my 64. I want to go with the round ones and am also looking to tow a pop-up so rear vision won't be an issue. It is all a choice that ultimately comes down to personal preference.

Check out the "Garage" link to the forum. Type in the model, year, make your looking for and hit enter. Hundreds of pictures of mirrors. Great source of styles to see what might look good for you on your truck. Added link to my truck from the Garage link that has aftermarket Western style added by a PO. jms

Let me know what mirrors you go with. I have old rectangular mirrors that blow around and need replacing.

Not sure if your looking for a custom look but a newer corvette mirror has a heavy door contour as well and may be worth trying.

66 F100 Camper Special

I'm in the same predicament but I kinda like a few I saw on Ebay when I searched for chrome fender mirrors there are a few that are rectangle and look like you could mount them on the fender or door. Door mounting you have to make sure they don't interfere with the vent, made that mistake last time.
Good luck.

I am taking the Western Jr. swing lock mirrors off of my sons 64 F-100. I am going to put on the round mirrors that go in the existing rectangle factory holes in the door. is there any plugs to fill the holes left by the removal of the Western mirrors. not looking for something permanent, just something to keep the weather out until we do the body work?

The only rubber plugs were used in the existing slots in the doors, if no mirrors were installed.

I am trying to build a mirror sort of similar to the one shown on Old Harleys picture of that green truck 3 years ago. The connector #17731 and #17733 clamp would save me a lot of time.. ND- Bill is this a part you might be able to locate in your system. I can't find it in the catalogs of the suppliers I have.
Anybody else try this and have ideas

Notice the asterisk * in front of these two basic numbers and what it says at the lower left in your pic:

Supplied only in 17742 arm assy.

There are 4 different 17742 arms.
