Where are Canadian truckers getting their 53 – 56 parts from? I would kind of like to deal with a Canadian supplier just to keep the effort alive here as long as their prices are competitive and they have decent service. I know there is the Old Car Centre in Langley, B.C., but I have been on there web site and they didn’t have any prices. That doesn’t impress me either. Then there’s George Moir in Stony Plain, Alta. Wasn’t impressed with his setup either. Apparently there’s a guy in Olds, Alta., but I haven’t seen him advertise anything anywhere.
It seems to me that I would probably be better off to buy out of the U.S. as they seem to have their stuff together more so than here in Canada. Another thing is that I want U.S. product not off shore crap.
Weather I deal Canadian or U.S. I want to see prices and decent quality. Any recommendations?

I use the Old Car Centre, they have an online catalogue but you have to copy the Part#, then use the search function of their online parts price list. It is a little drawn out affair to find the prices but I have had great service from them and the prices are comparable to the US vendors. Just my 2 cents.

It is way easier to call them for a price and availability, I have always found them to be very knowledgeable nice people.

I'll add that just because you use a US vendor doesn't mean you'll be getting made in USA products. Most of the stuff they sell is foreign made, too. And it's likely to be the same stuff your local folks will offer, as well. There just aren't that many manufacturers of old truck goodies.

I use George Moir a lot and have never had a problem or complaint with either their prices or service.
The Old Car centre has prices on their website.

You will find us prices a lot cheaper but it is the frieght that will jack the price.
I checked with George Moir for a new box and his price was $3400 while Mid Fifties was around the $1300 mark. So if you take a trip to Arizona and buy all your parts that are heavier you can save abunch. I spent around $5500 from Mid fifties which would have cost closer to $10,000 in Canada and my expenses there and back was about $2000 with a cheap holiday thrown in to boot.

I deal with the Old Car Centre quite a bit for stuff I need on my 49 and find them very knowledgeable and helpful. The stuff I have ordered from them shipped to my place fairly quickly. The have a lot of stuff in their catalogues. I would recommend them.
