ball joints time

I think I am going to need to replace my ball joints in the near future and saved a link that someone on fte posted on XRF ball joints. XRF Chassis | Automotive and Heavy Duty Chassis Parts | Canada and Unites States

I was wondering if any one has had any experience with them, or heard anything about them. It is either these or the standard moog, which are only slightly cheaper.

wallz,
Do not know about the XRF, but did find out the Moog's were not a good replacement on my EX. They were so tight when installed that it took a gorilla to manually rotate the knuckle before the linkage was re-installed. I had the tech remove them and replace with Ford joints (which by the way also have grease fittings now) and all has been great.
That along with an alignment fixed my wander/return-to-center issues.

Agreed.

OEM ball joints on the Ex, Moog on the F-150.

I just had mine done and was finished yesterday. Had Moog's installed, all 4. I see and feel no issues with them. The steering is nice and responsive and I can brake at 70 with no shaking or nothing. Im happy with mine. All 4 of mine were shot by the way.

The MOOGS are pretty nice. We had them come out to our office last year for a demo. They over engineer their products and have grease fittings on stuff like tie rod ends and ball joints. Their ball joints are made of metal too.

We carry their products,if anyone has any questions on anything, shoot me a PM and I can answer them for yah.

Are 4x4's the only ones that have ball joint problems?

It's a wear and tear part. Over time they tend to go on pretty much any vehicle.

The Mechanic who did my Excursion told me the front end is so heavy he can understand why the ball joints go bad at 100K... if you have a 2WD I would have a shop put it on a lift and check it out, especially if you have 100K or more.

Just had mine done at 168K miles. Went with OEM. If they last as long as the originals-I'll be happy!

Thanks guys for your responses. I havent decided yet on what to get. I will need to replace before the summer is over tho. Probably going to go with the XRF. If I do I will post back on what I find. I will be doing this on my own unless something happens. Still havfta order in the rest of the seals to, so it will be late summer at best.

Did mine four month ago. Just make sure they have grease zerks and put them on before you press them in. You may never be able to get grease to them if they end up pointing the wrong way. Also found that the second side generally take a third of the time as the first side you do. Good luck and 3/4 drive wrenches will help.
