Interchange of parts-HELP!
I have a:
1985 F250 6.9 diesel (Blown engine) with c-6 4X4
Just bought for $1500.00:
1995 F250 5.8/E4OD Trans 4X4 (Is this a good strong truck for towing?)
Is this considered " a "medium" or heavy duty pickup, or what?
I feel I got a good deal (any comment on price?) as the truck body is good (long bed) without rust and no major damage.
Rear brakes are "completely gone", one drum is literally in two pieces (???) and the other rear drum has a a hole the size of a baseball from apparent sitting with water. Front disc are o.k
Engine (5.8) has exhaust leak due to exhaust hanger on right side are non-existant and thereby has somewhat loosened the exhaust manifold.
Question:
I know the 6.9 diesel and 5.8 have no "engine" interchangeable parts, nor the trans.
What does a "tow Package consist of"
Any problems engine/trans this particular year vs other.
Are most the body parts, brake drums/disc and other parts interchngeble?
Do you guys feel this was a good deal?
Truck has 219,000 miles but yet runs strong and tranny does not slip and shifts ok. I drove it home yesterday (250 miles) despite the brakes and the exhaust leaks and would guess previous owner has been for a lon t time.
"ANY" comments/help muchly appreciated.
This seems to be a "tough" truck" and I really like it. Easy to work on.
Oh! "check engine light on" and would guesss the exhuast leak at manifold would cause this.
Small fron/rear seal leaks.
A/C blows cold but when fan is turned on the volume of air at vent goes from good to bad, I guess a vacuum control valve in the climate control system somewhere?? Comment pls.
Thanks so very much
God Bless
John
