a/c clutch

My brother has a 95 f250 powerstroke with an a/c issue. It is darn cold when it works but for some reason the clutch wont kick in unless to hit the clutch wheel part. I can unplug the sensor on it and it will stop but when i plug it back in i can hear it bog down like it is trying to kick in but wont untill you hit the clutch wheel again. Is there a kit to rebuild this or do you just replace the whole compresor?

That seems cheap enough to try. How does that come apart. Just that bolt in the center of the wheel?

Yep . Be careful taking it off ...You may need to find a thinner washer if there is only one ...

Could be low on freon that would make it not kick in. I think you can jump across a sensor plug in to see if it kicks in but someone else better say which one.

I forgot what the gap your supposed to set is, but good rule to follow is make sure its not dragging while the motor is running, and if you apply voltage to the connector at the top inside, it will suck in the clutch.
That way you can tell if its making good contact or not.
They generally just wear and need to be re-shimmed.
