I too have loaded my Full size atv about 700lbs. plus my 265lbs. of stealth weight and not had any issues running up ramps on the back, but I had a different truck that the cables broke just when sitting on it because the cables had rusted. The issue can be more rated to the current condition of the cables as Bare Bones suggested then to the actual rating of the tailgate...Bare Bones, good to see MN in the house!!!.

We've talked about it and looked at a lot of them It would definitely make my life (the toy loader!) easier.... but most of the toy haulers feel just too, well, "garagey" inside. Well, except for some of the monsters with segregated garage and living areas. And I do not want a monster.
We spend at least 30 nights per year in the trailer. As much as I love spending my evenings out in the garage, I prefer my trailer to feel (and smell!) more like my living room.

Take a look at this. I'm trying to get my daughters Suzuki Ozark 250 (which weighs 440 lbs) across ways on the tailgate using the same piece of alloy pictured which weighs 68 lbs; a total of 508 lbs. Do you's think it will work? I think the difference here is that the weight will be on it during transit to and from our riding spots. (the other two bikes will be on the bed cover)

I've ride my bike into the bed all the time. The bike is 764lbs and I'm 298lbs. I've done it with ramps and off a hill. It is scary with the ramps but it works. I just check the cables everytime before I load to make sure they are equal and not damaged in any way.

My 82 Goldwing bent the inside panel of the tailgate when I loaded it in my Superduty. I weigh 225 lbs and the Wing weighs around 800.

I would remove the tailgate when I loaded it just to be safe.
