MUCH worse than expected mileage (6.4 MPG!)

I am thinking fuel as well. The more I read about it the more I am thinking alcohol effects mileage more than first thought. The 20 mph winds have a very large effect as well, even if it is a cross wind. I find wind effects mileage more than weight does. When I had my V10 I hit as high as 10.5 and as low as 7 depending on the weather. That was towing a 11K fifth wheel trailer with a high front. I have a 6.2 on the way with 4.30's and I would expect it to do as good or better. Or should have, I have a larger trailer now so I cannot truly compare. As long as I can average 8 I will be happy.
Congrats on the new truck BTW.

Took a 1200 mile trip 5 weeks ago with my 2010 F250 5.4L 4X4 3.73 and averaged 8.15 with 8K 34ft TT in tow. MPG ranged from 7.25 with lots of side winds to 8.75 on calm day. Wind is the mileage killer. GCW was 15,650 lbs.
I agree that you need way more than 40 miles to get an accurate MPG reading.
