Delphi weatherpack makes waterproof relays and connections that you can gang together. You have to have the special crimper to use them. You can jump multiple wires in each connector. They aren't cheap but I love all of the weather pack conectors that I have converted to in my truck. Those relays are on my list for later.

I've got a big kit with all that stuff in it from the MegaSquirt guys.
Be cool to have a weather tight five pin plug.

Hey Joe, how the heck are you?
I would really enjoy having a beverage or two.
I'll betcha it happens on of these days.
Loved visiting you and seeing your place.
I've got the Y block all tucked away and ready for a hotrod build in the future.
BTW guys, this man has a little piece of Ford heaven in the Sierra.
Nice to hear from you Joe and please, if you ever make it down this way (why would you ) stop in for a visit.

Relay update.
All my ordered goodies came in yesterday.
Perfect for a nice morning of re wiring.
Found a weatherproof Hella relay on line and ordered a couple. It's a nice piece. Much heavier than the other, weatherproof and even has tabs to run a zip tie through to keep it all tight.
Got the plug kit that HIO recommended.
BTW the company with the plug stuff (Del City) is pretty on the ball.
They sent a nice welcome letter, a cool catalog and fast shipping.
Lemme back up a hair.
When I did the temp switch install the other day I immediately had a difference in the way my truck started.
Instead of firing on the key hit, it would crank for a bit then fire.
Nothing out of the realm of Ok but noticeable.
Since the relay is in line on the control cable to the MSD box it should not make a difference in starting.
But it did.
Measured the voltage drop with the key on and off and had a few tenths of a volt drop. Seemed ok to me, especially with the radio on.
So I installed the new relay and made the connections with a proper crimping tool ( I bought the high dollar deal from Megasquirt).
Bam, fired right up on the key hit.
I'm figuring it is one or both of two things.
A crappy temp wire job and/or a crappy part store relay.
Bottom line is the install is now weather proof and done right with a nicer relay.

I was leaving on a long road trip last summer, they had those solenoids on sale. Mine was acting up so I replaced it and bought another for my Torino as the price was right. I got to where I was going, and next morning the Truck wouldn't start. Had a few guys standing around as we were at the Mud Races. We narrowed it down to the solenoid, which was the last thing I thought it was, it was new. Luckily for me I had a spare! Changed it and truck fired right up.

Get halfway home and get a room for the night, next morning truck won't start. As my luck would have it we are in a small mountain town in some rented cabins on a Sunday. After Cab fee's, call out fee to Napa, part, I was in another Solenoid for $160!
Haven't had a problem since.

I took them back to the store and got my money back and invested it in beer. The guy at the parts store said he was taking them off the shelf, they were junk.

Sorry about the long winded story, but if that is a Standard brand, carry an Oem spare....haha
Just got to this point in the thread and had to share. When I was a kid we had a problem with a solenoid too, but instead of not starting our '76 liked to start on its own. Which got really fun since our e-brake has always been in-op so it was parked in first. Luckily my dad was around when it happened, but it was funny watching him chase the empty truck down the street. Anyway, my hijack is over, and like many have already said, amazing build. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Hah
Hi Steve, long time no see.
I'm still here, just no upgrades to report on the beast.
I did start a threat the other day separate from this on a ujoint problem I ran into.
I was replacing my rear joint and blew through 4 joints in the span of two weeks.
Come to find out Moog is now making parts in Mexico and every one failed.
Had an old American made joint in the garage, threw it on and it's doing fine.
But the truck is running everyday taking my buns to and from work like it should.
She's a peach.
Hope all is well with you and yours.

No see, Long time.

Glad you're still here and about, good to hear the "Beast" is in service and taking you to work and back. Good ol' American made parts are always much better than the stuff made elsewhere.

Busy here with work and family, I have done lots of little things with the Candy Cane not usually worth posting. (Except when a simple brake job goes south.

Keep in touch bud!!

Well I know it's been a while but I've been knee deep in rust repair, body work and subframe and roll bar installation on my Fairlane bracket car.
As we are all familiar with, way to many projects.
Also been working on my '61 F100 to make it a solid everyday driver.
It's bitchin.
I don't know if I said anything about my wheel hop problem with the new power but suffice to say if you have big power you want to be able to lay it down.
I bought a traction bar set up from James Duff as it was very simple.
It worked great for traction but because the bar wasn't parallel to the ground it bound the suspension.

I tried all the adjusting positions but nothing worked.
So I tried putting a shock in the position of the t bar.
Worked awesome. No binding and no wheel hop during burnouts.
Job done.

Looks good Marc.
I was wondering the other day how the FE was running.
