Dark side question trans mount?

I have a 56 sbc and 6 speed. Has anyone put one of these in? Is the trans mount a straight one or does it have a dropped one? I realize I have to level the motor at the intake. Just trying to get prepared before I get to this point.

Depends somewhat on how low you install the engine and what transmission you use. I have no experience with a 6 speed but I would think it's not as big as a TH400 so you could probably use a straight one. On my 48 F-3 with a SBC and TH350 I used a straight mount. On my 49 F-1 with SBF and FMX I'm using a drop of a couple of inches. For best results I would mock the engine and transmission into position first and then and determine what drop, if any, you need.

I agree with Vern. Custom engine/trans swaps are never as cut and dried as one might think. Way too many variables to be concerned with to not do your own up close and personal mock up. That way you can know 100% where your exhaust, steering, and all your mounts need to go, while also checking floor, firewall and radiator clearance.

I should have stated that I am using a Mustang II. Those are very helpful hints and you are correct, alot variations. Just thought somebody might have one installed with the same exact set up. Thanks for the input!

I used the motor mounts and transmission cross member from TCI and I believe you can get the same ones from Classic Performance. The combination gave me the standard 5* tilt for the motor. It actually was a no brainer...one of the few that I've had on this build...

I too got the engine cross member, mounts & tranny cross member & mount from CPP and for the most part everything went smoothly - up to this point. When I look at it, it looks like it tends to tilt towards the rear of the truck, however, the angle finder at the carb says about 1/2 of a degree off (though I realize that I still need to install the bed, its wood and the front end. Disclaimer, I do not know what I'm doing so I'm definitely not a source - other than how NOT to do it...
