OIL?

I ordered my 2011 about 9 days ago... I got the gas 250 4x4 6.2 eng.. My question is what brand and weight of oil do you guys use on this engine?

Respectfully,

Mark

5W20 Motorcraft with Motorcraft filters. Follow the oil-life indicator for change intervals.

The Motorcraft oil filters are very good filters at a very good price, I use them. As for oil, in the warrenty period I would use the oil weight recommend by Ford. You can use a good name brand oil that meets Fords specs if you want, you do not have to use Motorcraft oil.

I test my oils at each change for last 3 years and the Motorcraft dealer put into my PowerStorke was the worse oil ever. After 5000 miles it show worse, than Rotella after 10,000

We are talking about non-diesel oil in the thread, but really, that bad?

All manufactures use the same base oil with some chem pack modifications between oils for diesel and gasoline engines. If any..
This way, or the other I strongly recommend do your own test. There are millions myths about oil change for each opinion based on actual testing.
With the cost of oil changes on our engines, the $25 for lab test seems to be a bargain. You will get your money back if they allow you extend the interval by only 2000 miles.

Motorcraft 5W20 and MC filters are a good brand to use change every 5k and don't worry about it. Your engine will be humming along with no problems.

I used Valvoline 5W20 full Synthetic and a Fram tough guard oil filter for my first change.
