Wiring... Brake controller?

I was messing around under the dash trying to figure out what was wrong with my flashers (not working) and I found a couple things that were a bit interesting. First off... What is this?

I found it screwed in under my dash, never seen one and dont know what it does, it wasnt plugged in so I pulled it. Its about the size of a beeper...

And is this a plug for a brake controller?

Thanks for all the help guys!

I doubt thats a plug for a brake controller IIRC they don't need 6 pins and they require a direct hot line from the battery. As far as the other critter for all I know that could be the launch control for every nuke in the USA

Pretty sure that is the brake contoller connector thats the same looking one as my 87. the other thing you found is a dual zone shock sensor used on aftermarket alarm systems. looks to be an old dei unit.

Yep, that's for the brake controller. The 3035 Tekonsha Harness plugs right into it-makes installing a brake controller a 10 min job.

It is used to detect unwanted motion and sets the alarm system. Dual zone means it has 2 sensors inside that can be adjusted to different levels for adding control.

Prodigy also makes a controller that plugs right into the socket. That socket is still used by ford so at least finding new controllers is not to hard.

Plug the part number into google, I found pages of dealers who sell it. The usually sell for around $15.00.
