Has anybody ever had problems with 2" body lift?
I am thinking about putting the 2" body lift kit off my parts truck onto my 79 f250. I didn't really think about what problems could come. I was braggin off to our farm hand about it, when he said "That is THE WORST MISTAKE you'd ever make!" He said even with a lift as small as 2" it will have all kinds of problems, like: steering shaft, shifting linkages, (which he said would be hard to steer and shift), if you have a fan shroud (i do) that you have to cut out the bottom of it or lower the radiator, it would be stretching hoses, wires, and brake lines! Somebody please put their input here to help me!

Makes sense that if you lift the body 2'' everything not attached to it is going to sit 2'' lower. T case and manual tranny shifters probably wont matter, dunno bout clutch linkage. Seems like most stuff would be able to give 2'' though. I hate body lifts myself, bumpers always look weird. didnt you just remove the lift from another truck? That should give you some idea.

actually the truck is an automatic not manual so clutch linkage is not a worry (thank god) and I have not yet removed the lift off that truck, I'm trying to figure this out before I dig my own hole
and btw, this lift actually has a lift spacer in between the bumper and frame for the top bumper bolt, and for the bottom bolt, another hole was drilled in the frame right above the factory hole. So the bumper isn't a lot lower and goofy looking.

If you're only after 2" of lift i wouldn't bother with a body lift and all the hassles that entails (not to mention they're just plain cheesy), a 2" suspension lift can be done very cheaply and easily, and it's actually "usable" lift, unlike a body lift, do a shackle flip in the rear, nets you about 2.5" of lift and costs you absolutely nothing, other than your labor and a few bucks in grade 8 hardware, as for the front, go to the junk yard and get a set of 67-77 highboy springs, they too will net you about 2.5" of lift, total cost to you for everything is probably under $100 and a Saturdays worth of work.

wasn't worth the aggravation IMOP but needed at the time cause my 460 motor sports valve covers would not clear the a/c box nor the power brake booster, solved the booster problem with a 350 booster.
But I do have problems clearing the shifter thru the floor hole and I did have to lower my fan shroud not cut the bottom out.
The brake tubeing will stretch up and all other hoses will be fine if I do recall.
The only positive is that now my fill ups are super fast cause it takes that flat spot out of the filler hose to the tank and the fuel dumps right in. I guess.
It sure does suck though having to admit I have a body lift on a "highboy"
