EXCURSION IN TANK MOD/DROPPING FUEL TANK

I did a search on in tank mod to EX ,hoping to find out information on how to drop fuel tank.

I see 4 large bolts that hold skid plate in place.

After I take the 4 bolts out, will the skid plate /fuel tank come out together?

If not then are there bands that hold the fuel tank in?

Has anyone done the in tanks mod on there EX?

I did some other mods to my fuel system and pulled the tank. The 4 bolts you see(front/back) mount the tank and skid plate. They'll both come down together.

Thanks for the reply.
seems to be straight forward?

Support tank at skid plate (floor jack)
Remove 4 bolts
Lower jack
Disconnect fuel lines/fuel inlet filler hose
Pull tank out?

Any thing else I over looked?

Thanks again

Lower tank a little to give more room to disconnect lines?

Unhook fuel level sender. On my cabchassis F350 (rear tank like X) there was a connector out in front of tank.

Hutch mod? Do these tanks need the hutch mod? I've never heard of them needing it and Mine fills fast and all the way up.

Unless you're doing a different mod?

Yep, they do. The Ex tanks are no different than the 250/350 tanks except they hold more than the truck tanks.

Mine fills fast and all the way up.
You're thinking of the Harpoon Mod that allows the tank to be filled faster. Welcome to guzzle's In-tank Harpoon Mod Web Page

The Hutch Mod ( Welcome to guzzle's In-tank Hutch Mod Web Page ) eliminates air before the fuel pump and adds a pre-pump filter setup since the mixing chamber screen is removed when doing the Hutch Mod.

I've done both to my Excursion.

I suggest having a second person help you, its a PITA for one person plus you cut your time in half. It took me 12 hrs start to finish with one person.

Yeah, but it was left open-ended so it needed to be updated with answers.
