Planet Ford Houston - did the right thing

During annual state inspection, we discovered the parking brake cable was routed between crossmember and frame and would not budge. Planet Ford had pulled the F450 cab off in 2008 to repair an electrical problem, which was the only time anyone had ever worked in that area. Needless to say replacing the damaged part was not covered under warranty. Feeling somewhat implicated in the original problem, they wanted to split the cost. When I picked up the truck we discucsssed how this could happen, my position was it was not an owner caused problem. They agreed and waived all cost for the repair. I thought this was very nice way to keep a customer happy. Mark Wheeler, the service writer, was very helpful communicating my side of the issue to their management.

Thanks for posting ag. It's refreshing to hear a good dealership experience story every now and then.

Back when I had my 5.4 F150 my catalytic converters went out. My dealership got all $4000 ($2000 each cat. Its ridiculous) waived under a fuel injector recall. Theoretically the fuel injectors could have caused the damage to the cats.

My fuel injectors were fine, but they swapped those out too

I think a lot of it has to do with your service writer. I've heard several bad stories in the past from Planet Ford (mostly bait and switch tactics). Of course I've heard people complain about Tomball Ford (where I bought my truck), but I have nothing but compliments for that dealership. My service writer was incredible (Jim Baker..great guy).

Glad you had a good experience. Seems like we mostly hear the bad experiences on here.
