Front wheel bearings

The bearings essentially are not serviceable. Some people have managed to disassemble the hub assembly and replace the bearings inside, but had to put a lot of effort into matching the bearings....as Ford does not provide a service kit (to my knowledge).
I dug into this project a couple weeks ago. Ford wanted about $500 for the Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly just for one side. I went down to the local Advanced Auto and the best brand they carried (National - which is Federal-Mogul)they were asking about $330. Found the same exact part online for around $230 with free shipping from myautopartswholesaledotcom. You can find them for much less, but from what I have heard most are China scrap metal.
And yes, there are different part #'s for SRW and DRW applications.

for My 2004 F350 6.0 SRW 4x4 I ordered Motorcraft HUB4 $298.79 from Rockauto.com.
It came with fine threaded studs so I had to take out the existing coarse threaded studs and reuse them.
They also carry the SKF brand at $250 and the Timken at $180 Raybestos at $125 and their value brand at $100 to $110
So plenty of choice.
My understanding is that even if the bearing is making a lot of noise, you can still drive it for a thousand miles without worrying that it will catastrophically fail so dont worry about the couple of days that it takes to get the part shipped from Rockauto.com and save yourself some $$.
