Noob with my first F150

Whats up guys. I'm new to the site, about 5 min new to be exact, and I just bought my first F150. It's a 94 XLT with a 5.0. It has a few issues but for the 2k I paid I think I did ok.

Issue one is the Trans will not kick down into passing gear. It up shifts fine through the gears, but if I accelerate it will not down shift to pass, even if I floor it.

The other issue is cosmetic. I want to lower the truck, but I don't want to put it in the weeds. I've found 2" shackles, but I cant find anything less than a 3" drop for the front. do they make drop springs for the front, or is 3" my only option? I like a little bit of rake to the stance.

lastly, the drain plug in my oil pan is one of the rubber compression type of plugs. I still feel threads in there but I cant tell if its been stripped or cross threaded. does anyone know what tap it take to re-thread it, and what the plug size is?

Thanks for the time
Shawn

Lew is correct.....You actually have 2 choices...

1-Eibach/Similar brand 2" lowering Coils
2-Lightning Coils-They are 1'' lower than regular F-150 coils...

Drain plug-If you can get it out, and if the threads are fugged up, a Tap & Die set will clean them up....ANd then you can get a quick change kit....It threads in the drain plug as normal, but instead of having to remove it each oil change, simply pull an twist the end, and it'll allow the oil to drain...$8 @ O'Reilly's, etc....

Awesome. Thanks for the info.

Are the Lightning coils something I can get at the parts store or will I need to go to FORD?

You can also buy a regular thread-in oil plug, but if you're lowering the truck , you prolly won't beat on it like I do mind and the quick change will be fine.

I just talked to the mechanic about my Trans. Hes says it's a proximity sensor. Does anyone know if that's an internal sensor or if it's something that just plugs into the trans? I don't really feel like paying him 400 bucks for something I can do myself.

Thanks sidewinder. I did find NumberDummy on the member list. I can't seem to message him, so I called him out in a thread.

I guess I should have said I spoke with the lady at the service department. Now she says she said she should have told me it was a throttle position sensor.

It's on the underside of the throttle body. I can try to get a pic if you need it. It's a little black thing with wires coming out of it. Maybe 1/2in thick.
