Question 1996 f-250 driving me crazy

Heres the situation i have a '96 f-250 with the 5.8 engine. This thing has been a money pit to me since i bought it. and here comes another problem that i cant seem to figure out now and i ts driving me nuts. So here is what happens - if i drive the truck and it gets up to temperature it will be fine, but when i shut it off and let it sit for say 20-30 min and go to start it again it will turn over and stumble and not start on the first try of cranking the starter. then i will try and start it again and it will start. the next thing is when it is wet outside it will not start. i know ith is a common problem of bad cap rotor or wires and i have replaced all of them and still having the same problem. so please if anyone can help me from this point. i need this truck to run and its starting to get on my nerves that its a gamble everyday whether it will start or not.

Cracked coil is the next item. Have you had it scanned for codes?

It's possible there are codes stored. A scan tool will help you pinpoint the trouble.

You could also have a bad plug that plugs onto the coil.

A good scanner to get is this one for about $30.00 at an O'Reilly Auto Parts store:

if you have the test port under your hood on drivers side on firewall side of air filter, then more than likely yes it will. if you have the test port under the dash then no.

Take it to Autozone or many of the other big box part stores for a free scan.
My 1996 has both OBD 1 & 2 connectors but it's a diesel so it may be different than yours.
Look in the areas 98f2urd said above. The port under the hood is OBD1...under the dash is OBD2. Let us know the codes you find.
