Is that his overall avg? City or hwy? Towing? What type of driver is he?

Her is what I am getting:
Hwy - 22 mpg at 65 mph, 50 miles each day (this is 80% of my driving)
City - 9-10 mpg (neighborhood driving, beer runs, stop lights/stop signs, extended idling, etc)
Combined City/Hwy - 19.4 mpg shown on dash computer (18.5 calculated by hand)
Towing - 14 mpg (fully loaded 30 ft travel trailer, GVWR 7200 lbs) fairly flat conditions with the exception of hwy overpasses

My neighbor has the same truck I do and he's getting 21.5 hwy mpg. Sounds like your brother likes to get on the gas a little bit.

I am jealous....I average 12.5; a good day on the highway is 13.5 to 14.5. I have only ever gotten over 15 once and that was on a flat highway in North Carolina.

No idea, I know he hates $4.30+/gal fuel and a truck payment that rivals some mortgage payments though.

I'm getting around 11 to 11.5 driving in the city. If I get on the highway will go up to about 14-16 depending on the wind. I have 2300 miles on mine so far and it gets better every time I fill up. Towing is around 8.5-9.

What part of the country is he in?? Diesel for me in the Houston area is anywhere from $3.59-3.89 depending on what part of town I get it in. Then I have a Shell credit card that gets me an additional 5% off.

You are right about the cost/payments on these things. When I told my boss what I eneded up paying for this truck, his response was "Good God, that's what I paid for my first house!"

We gassers have to fill up three times to the diesels two (price of both fuels the same around here now)!! If gas prices stay as they are, he will pay for that engine with his fuel savings in time!!

Yes he will. When I ordered mine diesel was 35 cents higher and that's what help me make my decision to get the gasser. I really don't need the extra power though, so for now diesel is better but what about in 4 months when gas is lower. You have to take the good with the bad, but I think it all equals out in the end.

I agree and hope you are correct regarding the gas prices!!! I don't need a diesel, or for that matter even a 250, But I got the 3/4 anyway!!

Diesels also last a LOT longer, but then also require more expensive maintenance. I didn't buy the diesel for the mileage or longevity though. I got it for the towing capability. Towing my camper with my F-150 was a pain.

Not for a Prius.

For an 8,000+ pound Super Duty with a gas engine.... yep, that's good to me!

I remember my dad's 1978 F250 4X4 getting about 8MPG empty and 6MPG with the camper on. Ouch!!

How ya calculating your mileage, Tom? You resetting the dash, or is it still at the same average since you picked it up?

Mine's been at 12.2 for weeks... mostly city beebopping around.

I reset mine at each fill up so that I can tell if I have a drastic change. Sometimes I will not reset on a long trip or tow if I want to know the mileage for the entire trip. Then again, that what the two trip computers are for. I have not reset the B trip computer since purchase. Will be interesting to see what my overall average is.
