How much have yall towed with your Bronco?

Biggest thing I have towed so far with my 90 Bronco (300,5 spd) is my Ford 3000 tractor with harrows, and just pulled my 79 4x4 (7.5L, c6)- this was the heaviest I think.

and honestly you probably shouldnt tow anything heavier. the bronco with its short wheelbase is not a safe tow rig when pulling heavy loads. the Tow rating on the bronco's are only 5000-6000lbs if i recall.

now could it tow more, probably but its just not safe. I towed a 4500lb travel trailer with another 500lbs of gear, i had ezlift hitch setup as well and it still could get squirly if i wasnt paying attention. make sure you have a brake controller also

I have towed 8500lbs with mine recently. It was a dump trailer with 3.52 Tons of rock in it.

I never got over 45 mph and only towed it for 4 miles. But it did move it nicely. The only thing i can say is hitch setup makes all the difference. My hitch wasnt high enough so extra weight was tranfered from the trailer to my truck that would normally be carried by the trailer.

I would not recommend towing this much to anywone with a bronco though.

On the other hand crossing the scales and seeing the 14000lbs total load was neat. Im saving that scale ticket.

I had to make an emergency run a few years ago and didn't really have a choice. I pulled a 3 horse slant bumper pull from Colorado to Oklahoma and back with a horse on board for the return trip. Both ways through snow and ice packed roads and snow storms. It did get squirrely a couple of times but held in there. But you want to talk nervous.... I didn't have a receiver hitch.... used a 2 5/16 ball in the bumper.
I prayed all the way there and back.

I towed my brother's Cherokee several times some years ago... I did fine, even the time when all except 2 of my cilinders got cut because my sparkplug cables weren't working right.

I have pulled a Boy Scout Trailer (~2500 pounds), an empty 24 ft enclosed car trailer and a loaded 2 horse trailer. Not a recommended tow rig for anything beyond a small utility trailer.

8x20 trailer with 5 quarter midget race cars, with all the parts to go with them, 7000lbs. Towed it 150 miles from home to the track. Did that until last year when I picked up a 1976 F250.

this is a stupid question but here goes....do Bronco's have shorter wheelbases than the F series trucks?

seems like they could get kinda squirrely towing something too big.

I wonder if you can add some weight on the front or something so it won't be all sliding around?

my Bronco has a 428 up front and it is still a butt pucker with a heavy trailer..it just is not up to being abused with overloading ...everything has a limit what are you trying to haul??

The most I have towed with mine is a full 2000 gallon water tank. All together about 18,000 lbs. It was only about six miles and never got over 50 mgh lol. I made this trip 5 times that day helping a buddy fill his pool (we all ran on cisterns no wells or city water). We used mine cause his 3/4 ton chevy gasser wouldn't full it up the big hill coming out of town lol! But my baby ain't exactly stock and all that wieght up front (over a grand in engine).
