As of yesterday, i pulled everything off of the firewall, and took out the dash and all the wiring! Next is to clean and paint the firewall, then put back into place on the frame!

Does anyone know what the sealer that is around all of the joints is called and where i can get it?

seam sealer commonly made by 3M. get the stuff thats paintable and comes in either a caulking tube or similar. Alot of the professional supply houses only sell the special two-part kind that uses a special gun. Eastwood sells the caulk tube style

Well, haven't got much done lately, been working my butt off so i could get some money for this thing! But i have gotten about half of the paint on the cab stripped down. Then after spending $420 today, I have a set of front springs in the mail!! I will post pictures once i get the front end all together!

Its been a long time since i updated! I got my front springs in and it back on wheels!! No more jack stands! I also got some Warn locking hubs yesterday and got those put on. I just need the u-bolts and some u-joints and my chassis will be complete!! I should be buying the valve covers and headers in the next week or so and will post pictures then...

Project looks great! I was wondering what the deal was with all the holes in the middle of the frame? They look factory, and I have heard that the 1980 trucks were a different animal than the rest, is this why?

The "swiss cheese" frame was mainly an attempt at cutting weight, which would hopefully increase gas mileage. However, these frames loved to buckle, and once they did, they were non-repairable, and this design wasn't as efficient as planned, so it was scrapped shortly after it started. That's what I've always heard.

O.P., looks like your truck is coming along great! I wish mine was coming along that quickly!

Thanks guys! I plan on having the firewall, inside and jams all painted in the next few weeks, as we are moving and would like to have the cab on before we move it. Then today i made a trip down to summit and came out with these:
Tomorrow, I will put them on along with the spark plugs i got and post pictures again!

Thanks!! I took a look under my buddies 86 f150 and there are none of those holes! So as fordzilla stated, they must not have used them long.

Thanks! It has been kinda slow, but things have picked up in the last few weeks!

I like those valve covers - I have them too. Must be nice being within driving distance to Summit ?! If only I could recover some of the duty and shipping costs... Did you pick anything up for the oil fill cap or pcv/breather? Drill nice and gentle, deburr it and you are good to go.

Oh I love it! It is only like 15-20 minutes from my house! I did get the grommets and the thing pictured below... not exactly sure what it is. Do you know where to get the bolt kit for the covers? I dont know about yours, but mine have 2 long bolts on each cover...

I am going to take them to my machine shop and have them drill them. I typically screw that kind of stuff up and i dont want to take the risk. and i dont have the drill bit/hole saw needed to do it.
