From what i have read about them hereon this site there is a sperate hyd pump
(commonly called a powersteering pump) mounted on the engine that needs to turn so that it can make hyd pressure to release the brakes.
The brakes I belive are spring loaded so be careful.
And why on earth did you pick F-junk for a username on this site?? some folks on here might not want to help you at all with your Fine Ford.

I guess the question is how big of adeal is it to override the parking brake Vs how far is your truck from a engine that will at least idle??
My truck has air brakes that is why I do not know.
use the search button, it is your friend.

what year is this truck?

It should have two spring cans mounted on the back side of each of the backing plates on the rear axle. Just grab a 3/4" wrench and back the bolt out of the can until it snugs up.

Then you're free

If Dodge wants to pay to advertise on this site, well, more power to 'em. They are just wasting their money

IB don't have a lot of input as to which ads run here, it's up to the advertisers to specify that.

IB (Internet Brands) once owned over 100 websites. It's my understanding that the same ads ran on all of them.

IB is now owned by Hellman & Friedman LLC, a private equity group, sale completed 12/10/2010.

We have these on our Freightliner MT45s. No engine power = no parking brake release. When they tow them, they spray water or wd40 under the rear tires to get them to slide on to the flatbed. Not pretty.

I would guess you need to trace the brake control cable down to the brake itself, and crack a fitting or two to see if you can release pressure.

OR, since I'm pretty sure these brakes are mounted to the rear of the trans, just disconnect the driveshaft.

BE SURE you chock a couple wheels BOTH WAYS before you fiddle with it.

Spent hours, at the house I bought it from, understanding I needed to just replace the brake line to get the emergency brake to disengage. Was locked, truck wouldn't move. Lack of documentation on the internet, and when there was, it was conflicting information just as the answers are here; I literally signed up on this forum just to tell this guy THANK YOU!!!! - @everyone UP VOTE THIS ANSWER because it's 100% CORRECT!!?? Took me 3 turns with a crescent wrench to bring the back of the bolt out just snug; fired the truck up and drove it home. Emergency Brake disengaged that easy, I hope this saves someone else time!
