Automatic or Manual Transmission?

What does your truck have? The ever-popular C6? or a T-18 or NP-435 4-Speed or a 3-Speed Manual?
Most dentsides are automatic. About a 3 to 1 ratio. (or more)
I actually own one of both and prefer the 4-speed any day to the C6 Auto. (One of the best Automatics Ford ever made.
Got more than one dentside? No problem. Just vote twice. Votes are public.

Good ol NP435 here. Just about all of us have to deal with no overdrive though. I'm not super fond of 2750rpm @ 70mph.

I've thought of putting in a 5-Speed in the '76 F-350.
But, then I remembered it wouldn't be worth the amount work it would take to do such a thing.

NP 435 all day. But an overdrive would be nice.

Stick all the way! no slush boxes here, driving an automatic just feels awkward to me.

My '78 F150 4x4 had a C6, and replaced with an NP435 (looking to put a ZF5sp in it). My '79 Bronco has a small bell C6. Previous dentsides I've had are:

'74 F100 2wd 3 on the tree behind a built 302.... that was a fun one wheel wonder!
'78 Bronco NP435, which that low gear really pushed it through the turf.
'78 F150 4x4 NP435 that could tow all day long.
'78 Bronco C6 that plowed snow without the trans slipping.

I prefer the NP435 in a truck, though.... followed by the 3 on the tree. BUt I can't complain about the C6. AOD's on the other hand.

I hear ya! same here, i always find myself reaching for the "imagimary" clutch and shifter, it's just second nature.

My 2WD Bump and 4WD Dent both have NP435s. I'm planning on a TKO-500 for the Bump.

....auto trannies say "Gee, I don't mind holding your purse while you shop dear".

EDIT: ... I had no choice with my 01 SuperCrew. It's a 4R70W.

from what I've seen,
the stick is pretty rare

I do wish I had an OD tranny, but at least it's got a nearly bullittproof C6

my father in law has an 88 diesel supercab (2wd) with the 4sp (3+granny low) with a Banks Turbo Kit
ordered from the factory with 4.11:1 gears (cruising speed of about 45mph in 4th)
the day it was picked up, it got driven to the shop for a Gearvender overdrive
now she humms along awesomely at 80mph getting 20+mpg

I'm even higher than that (rpm). I think i hit that around 60mph. If it just had an overdrive
