Should I be filtering diesel that comes out of a 55 gallon barrel?

16k in motor repair.....covered by insurance, and the never figured out the scuzzy barrel !? What warranty company was that, I want to give them a call....their investigating team seems to be top notch, I want them on my side

Go to Oreillys and order a WIX 24034 filter head and a filter. Depending on your micron preferrence 24006, 24027, 24347 or 51453 filter. One of these is for hydraulics. Look them up on their web-site.
Tractor Supply Company also sells similar products but you will usually pay more.
Several companies sell these type products, just be sure the filter threads are 12UNF. Cim Tek/GPI-WIX-FillRite etc. Also remember diesel reacts to galvanized metal. Use combinations of cast iron-copper-black pipe, hose 30R7(or better) and good sealant, i use high pressure liquid hydraulic sealant.

Have you ever seen those trucks with the portable fuel pumps for filling up other trucks or equipment? Essentially it is a 55 gallon drum in the bed of a truck, with a pump. All of these have filters. Even though they get it from a normal pump, then into something with a fuel filter of its own, it is still filtered.
