lock cylinders

I understand the drivers side external door lock is a rare option. I need to make sure I have this straight though. It's not the cylinder itself but the internal mechanism that's rare, right? I ask because my 60 year old lock cylinder set screws really don't want to come out and I want to know that I just buy new cylinders if I bugger them up getting them out. Make sense?

I think I figured it out. The set screws are actually in the mechanism and only hold the shaft in place. So much for being able to use the big hammer.
