Last week I made the trip from Kansas City out to Bakersfield, CA with my roommate and three other friends in his '04 Super Crew F150. It was a great trip, but the whole time I was sitting in (on) the rear passenger side seat.

Maybe it's just because that's the little one that folds up, or because riding in the back seat of a truck for 26 hours isn't a good idea when you're 6'3"/230, but I was in some serious pain by the time we got to the Sunshine State. My butt hurt for days.

That said, I would recommend calling shotgun for such adventures.

Anybody else have similar trouble?

 

No, I've never experienced that in my own truck. All the passangers should have rotated seats during the trip.

My wife, albeit she's much smaller than you, has sat in that same position for a 6 hour ride, one way. She was comfortable...but then again you have 100lbs on her.

 

On hunting trips with my firends when my SuperCrew is used we take turns driving. I have sat in the back and the backseats are harder than the front seats. Also, you can lean back in the backseats.

 

the backrest on the rear seat is straight up, making it very uncomfortable. just remember you are never too old for a "chinese firedrill!"
