That's true, but remember as the curb weight increases for the longer chassis and longer bed, all the capacities go down.

True, the 84" CA F450 weighs 175# more than the 60" CA before upfits.

how about a built-in transfer tank surrounded by cabinets?

...or an air compressor.
...or a gen. set.

like lschicago2 said, your weight difference is negligible.

see if you can get ford to make you a deal.
transfer tanks or tool boxes would take the space up very nicely.

Yeah I am liking the idea of cabinets, it is a landscaping truck so, I could really benifit from the extra storage for tools.

The downfall now...it wont fit in my garage and I wont be able to see out the back window with the cabinets. But I may not be the end of the world if ford compensates.

Ill let you guys know

See....2 more reasons to send it back why do you even think of keeping a truck you didn't order?? They made a mistake make them make it right.

How about you send it back and explain to the dealer you really need a truck now....maybe have them cover the cost of a rental???? This way you have a truck to work with and will have the truck you want in 2 short months.

Do the pros of keeping this truck weight out the cons??

Wow, that stinks. I ordered my Chassis cab on 15 Nov and it arrived dealer 14 Feb. It is a 60" CA Lariat SuperCab diesel. I ordered the bed during the wait and got it Thursday. All in all it was one day short of 5 months for truck and bed. If it would have been the wrong truck my wife would have had me shot for sure. I hope if you keep the truck you will be happy with your decision six months from now. Sure sorry that happened to you, I would have exploded!!

Subscribing to see how this plays out...

I'm in the "send it back and get the truck you wanted" crowd. Since they screwed up, they should be able to provide you a truck to use in the meantime. Might not be a chassis cab with a flat bed but something to make do with until they make it right.

Good luck!

Add me to the "send-it-back" list. I have a 141" chassis cab 1 ton and it works good for plowing as it still turns decent. I would never settle for a truck 2 feet longer than what I needed, especially a special order that I had to wait for.

Are the frames completely different or are the mounting holes already there to mount the axle forward? It is possible to relocate the axle forward and cut off the extra 2 feet, and of course replace the driveline, but might cost more then its worth - but if you could get ford to pitch in it might help. They used to do it with the 450-650s when they were doing a pick up be conversion on them.

The extra length would have to come out from in front of the axle, and why on earth would you do this and void the warranty on a brand new truck???

Did anyone else notice his other thread, where he posted the pics of his chassis cab and bed. To me, it appears as though this case is closed and he has his truck.

Nope, I haven't actually taken delivery. I was given it for the weekend, so that I can measure everything out and see what I can do with the extra 2'. The dealer knows there is going to be a problem, and he is trying to help with any solution. I have a dealer plate right now, I go in tomorrow to finalize....either a yes or a no.

I guess the title "My new 2011 F350 cab and chassis, and box pics" threw me off!

I would try to get the dealer to install a 2' cab height tool box the extra storage for tools would be great, alot of landscapers around me have a similar setup. My dad and I landscape and before he bought his last truck we looked at cab overs with a 2' toolbox and a 8' dump, but the combo we wanted was about $15000 cdn for an all alluminum body plus the truck.
