so a buch of you guys think this is a headgasket issue. well sorry its not truck only has a failed egr cooler.
This is why those stupid test strips and that blue chemical for exhaust gasses in the cooling system cant tell you if you have a head gasket/bolt isse.

by the way the clue as to whats wrong with it is how fast the neddle will spike compaired to the rpm incress. head issues will climb and fall slower do to the time it takes to build enugh pressure to lift the heads.

so once again bill @ powerstroke no help . com is a DB. but thats one mans opinion.

Do you have to command the VGT closed and build boost for this test?

nope. this was just a really failed egr cooler. only thing hooked to the truck was the one snapon cooling system pressure tester.

also keep in mind not all failed egr coolers will do this. this one was bad enugh to make it pump cooant out of the degas bottle just like headbolt type issue.

yup the neddle wont move at all a good engine at idle. it will build to its base pressure and from there remain pretty stable.

If the strips or chemicals indicate combustion gas in the coolant, are the only two possible causes the EGR or head gaskets?

well when I got the truck there was an empty degas bottle less then a gallon of water in it and coolant puke everywere. so no coolant = no smoke. I had to pressure test the cooling system to get it to smoke. funyy stuff really.
and once again that was all egr cooler. it look a lot like headgaskets though. that was the second point of posting the video.

So what steps did you take to fix it, besides just replacing the cooler?
