I just bought a 2004 F250 6.0 liter on 4-3-2011 with only 57,000 miles on it, and I have been having issues with the truck starting. It would start okay when cold, but after driving around and then restarting it again it would would crank over a ton of times before finally firing up. Today, after work i went to start the truck and it was only cranking but not starting, so i then turned off the truck to restart it, but then it would not start at all, just did the dead battery sound of only clicking when trying to start it again. I had Les Schwab come out and replace my batteries, now that they have been replaced, I havent been having the starting issues with it cranking a bunch of times before finally starting. I had taken the truck to the dealership on 4-5-2011, and the dealership diesel tech told me that it could be my HPOP or an injector leak. But now that I have replaced the batteries and havent been having the issue anymore I am wondering if the issue was resolved because maybe the starting problem was from bad batteries. Anyone heard of havingthese Ford trucks cranking over a bunch of times before finally starting because of bad batteries, or is the diesel tech correct about the other possible problems? i could really use some help on this, I am hoping I can have a breath of relief now, since I am already out $250. Thanks

 

It's impossible to guess. The best thing you can do is get it code scanned before you throw any more money at it although having replaced the batteries might have erased any codes that were stored.
