Need a tire recommendation after wasting $800 on some bad Falkens
Looking for a new set of tires as I'm fed up with my 6 month old $800 set of Falken Rocky Mountain 265/75/16 load range E tires. I often run Falkens on sports cars with good luck but can't say the same about their truck tires. Not only are they wearing horribly (centers are down to 50% after 4k miles) and the truck handles/sways horribly since the new tires. At times, it's scary to drive the speed limit just lightly loaded.
Anyways, I'm looking to do it right this time and do some research before I pull the trigger. I tow a 7k trailer a few times a year but might be towing something larger, so I'll go with an E range tire. I take the truck up into the snow a few times a year and do see a bit of light off road use, so some decent tread would be great.
Given my situation, what would you guys recommend?

We put Falken tires on the work truck, I can't think of anything good about them yet. They are load range E and have more flex than my load range D did. I have a thread recently where we were out of town and I tried to find a 285/75/16 E. The easiest to find in Branson was the Firestone Destination A/T. I really like an aggressive looking tire, but was very limited. After having them installed, we drove approx 9 hours on them while pulling a 2008 Keystone Laredo 5th wheel. So far I like the tires. They handle well and aren't noisy. They aren't real aggressive looking, but several reviews I read say they handle well in various situations. Good luck

Firestone Transforce AT are probably your best bang for the buck. My last set of 4 tires were $545 (installed) so you can't beat the price. So far they have been wearing great and perform very well. Really good with heavy loads. Only downside is they aren't very aggressive looking. Check out my garage and you'll see what I mean.
If money was no object, I would highly recommend Bridgestone Dueller Revos AT. By far the best tire I've had to date. I've run two sets and both sets lasted for 60k miles without any issues. Very good in the mud and snow. I have also tried BF Goodrich All-Terrain and they were ok as well but not as good as the other two off road.
My fifth wheel weighs about 16,500 lbs so my tires get worked pretty hard from time to time.

I recently got the Firestone Destination A/T's 285 / 75 / 16R. Load rating E they are 10 plys.
Very good tires. Check out reviews on the Tire Rack. Purchased at a Firestone dealer but they were very difficult for the dealer to find a set.
Paid $747.06 out the door with balance, mounting, stems. No sales tax.....

Another vote for Firestone Transforce, but I got the HT's instead. Stock LT265-75-R16E's.
All my driving is on-highway, and decided I should go for the good wear characteristics.
I didn't do quite as well as Greg, but I was out the door for $600 even.
They are wearing VERY well, and evenly.

I just put on a set of good year duratracs 285 75s load range E and so far I am very happy with them they look fairly aggressive handled great the last few snow fall we've had up here and arnt extremely loud but they do have a slight hum cheapest place I found was discount tire 1100 by the time the were installed so a little more pricey but that's just my .02

My dad had a set of the Firestone A/T's cause he wanted to save some money. In my opinion they fill up with mud very easy and do t clean well, we didnt perform well in snow either. We both swear by BFG Allterrain K/O's. We both have had multiple sets and the tires perform great. We both pull 16' cargo trailers loaded with tools and they feel very secure and firm when pulling at speed. We also both plow in the winter and they have never left me stuck yet. It's up to ou but my vote is on BFG.

another vote for bfg, but i prefer the mt over the at. like the op i haul a bumper pull campmaster around 7-8k. a couple times a year heavier than that. some light wheeling here and there with a mix of in town/highway driving unloaded. good luck on your decision and let us know how your new tires work out for you.

Hankook DynaPro ATm's - E load rated, look good, stable, QUIET, grip very well in everything (light powdery snow, wet-heavy snow, no problem), and with a little over 30,000 on them they are wearing evenly and are about halfway done, perhaps a little less, so 60,000 should be reasonable. I run them at 70-75psi all year, day in day out, and no wear issues. Burly tire that I'll buy again for sure, but I'll get the 285/75R16E's for a little more rolling distance (currently have the 265/75R16E's)

Thanks for all the recommendations. Definitely glad I asked for everyone's opinions. I'm going to price everything and see where to go from there. At this point, I'm leaning towards one of the following:
-Bridgestone Dueller Revo A/T
-BFG All Terrain K/O
-Nitto Dura Grapplers
-Possibly Firestone Transforce or Destination A/T
I was assuming I'd go with 265/75/16's but seems some of you are running 285/75/16's. What are the advantages of running the 285's? They're probably going to be an extra $100 or so...
