Aftermarket seats for a decent price?

Im looking for some aftermarket seats for my 79 F250, anybody know of a placed that has good quality seats and isn't overly priced? So far all the aftermarket seats iv found have been around $1000-$1500 which is a little ridiculous since I could probably buy a whole new truck for that much. Iv looked for used seats on ebay and at pick n pulls, but all the ones Iv found have cigarette holes in em, smell bad, have rips and foam missing, or have stains. The bench seat I have in there now is out of a 93 f250 and would need new foam and re-upholstry if I wanted to fix that one up, but I don't know how much that usually costs either. Anyways, anybody know a good place for aftermarket seats that wont cost me an arm and a leg?

What's your budget? I mean, there are alot to choose from.... Corbeau, Mastercraft, Procar, Recaro, etc. Personally, I like the Procar Rally Series 1000 and Procar Elite Series 1100. They'd look more period-correct than swoopy modern seats like Recaros. Visit Jeg's or Summit Racing.

In a pinch, look at newer model Hondas and Acuras in the wrecking yards. You'll have to fab some seat brackets/pedestals but they look good and are really comfortable. A few weeks ago, the 'yard (Pick N Pull) I visited had a 'sale' and the guy behind me in line picked up a pair of cherry sport seats for ..... $15 each! Make acquaintences with the 'yard workers and they might let you know when a new batch of cars get placed in the yard. Pick N Pull is really methodical... you can even check their inventory online, how long its been in the yard, AND which row to find your gold mine.

I found a very nice set of buckets out of an '06 Lincolin Zephyr that ended up in my 78 F150. I picked em up for $170 at the local wrecking yard. They are leather, heated and cooled. A peice of cake to mount. I also picked up a brand new, late model ford truck console on ebay for 99 cents plus $69 shipping. Ive posted pics in my build thread............

Last week I put a "WTB" ad on Craigslist looking for '73-'79 Ford truck seat. By the end of the day I had two replies. I ended up getting a seat for $50.00. It was the wrong color but it wasn't all ripped up and will look and work great with a seat cover on it.

if you go to LMC trucks, they have kits to re cover your seat, complete with the bull rings, and bull ring pliers. Are the springs worn out in your seat? Hows the padding? Im sure you can find some padding or springs real cheap from LMC also. Ive looked up a few, and when I get ready for my seat to be redone, thats where I am gonna go to get the stuff to do it. Really good lookin truck you got there too!!

Seat reupholstery shouldn't be that expensive, maybe $300 for new springs, foam and cloth/vynl. Personally, I prefer swapping in the split beches (with the flip out armrest/cup holder) from a 92-96 F-truck.

Id like to stay under $500. I found some really nice looking ones at RV Furniture,Boat Furniture,Van Seats,SUV Truck Seats,Van Tops, and they sell adapter brackets for $45, but their seats still run around $800. I really like what you did with your seats 78PEB, it looks really sharp. I guess i'll keep trying with the pick n pulls and hope i get lucky.

Where in Cabot are you?? I'm in Austin.

On the original topic...I was contemplating keeping the original seat, but having now driven my dent a bit, I have realized that since I broke my back, it's just not going to give the support I need. So now I'm scouring the area for a later model split bench.

I know in the tips and tricks it says a seat up to '96 is a direct bolt in, but what about a '97? I have a line on a nice 97 split bench but don't want to pull the trigger if it's not going to work.

^if the seat is out of a 250HD or 350, it'll work.

Welp, guess I don't have to bother then. It's out of a 150.

I broke my back when I was younger too, so support is another thing id like to have in a new seat. Do split benches help more with back support?
