Extended Warranty

Hello all. Been lurking for a little and have gotten a ton of useful info from you guys. Thanks. I decided to pull the trigger on an f350 with the 6.2l (picking it up on Monday). I'm not typically an extended warranty guy but was curious to find out if any of you guys went that route. I'm a little nervous with the motor being in its first year, especially with all the issues the new deisels have had in recent years. I realize it is two completly different types of engines, but it still has me concerned. The extended warranty through Ford is $2750 and covers it bumper to bumper to 7 yrs or 100K. Any thoughts?

I got my Ford ESP from Troy Dietrich way cheaper. I got his name through this site, its legit and the exact same Ford product as the dealership.
Heres the link
Factory Discount Warranty
The 6 year/75000 mile is 1200 dollars, the 7 year /100000 mile is 1800 dollars. If you sell with time left its transferable or it can be prorated and you get a refund.

That seems alittle high for the ESP. You can deal on that price as well and do some shoping around. I chose to go with one also and it was the one that covers everything can't remember what they called it. It was the 0$ deductable one that I decided on, it was $1123 for the 7yr 100,000 mile warranty.

They vary in price depending upon which warranty you choose. I've got the Premium Care ESP on mine. You can get Powertrain Care, Base Care, Extra Care, and Premium Care. Hence the difference in price. Nonetheless, I would choose an ESP warranty over any others on the market.

And, as was said above, shop around. You can find some really good prices on them if you do a little homework. If I'm not mistaken, PartsguyEd is cutting some really good deals on them as well and he's also a site sponsor:

Angry Warranty Levels

Best get the "Preimum care" level. Seems like they really have the
things that fail all aced out and exempt from most others imho.

BTW the Troy Dietrich price mentioned above is the Premium Care level. His #s were 1000 less than the dealers.

Food for thought....talked ESP with my dealer for some of the reasons mentioned, and opted not to at this time, but I will in the future.

You can purchase an ESP after you buy the truck but before the normal plan runs out for less than $100 more. By the time you're approaching the 3/36, you should have a better idea for what kind of ESP you want. i.e. you have problems with some non-drive train parts of the truck, you may want to pick a higher grade plan.

Also, if you buy the ESP when you first buy the truck and god forbid something bad happens to the truck (totalled), you DO NOT get the ESP $ refunded back to you.

Not totally true. If you cancel the ESP it will be prorated and a portion returned. I got 900 back on the ESP on my old truck.
Its also transferable in a privite sale.

That makes sense, but it's not what my dealer told me. So, I'll go back and ask for clarification.

Call Ford Customer Service. Either the dealer doesnt know the deal or has some reason for the misinformation. Unless there is a problem the dealer its purchased from cuts the refund check. If there is a problem with the dealer , Ford steps in. I called Ford who gave me the refund # and then went to the dealer and signed tge paperwork.

I bit the bullet due to the original concern of a new motor and also reading some of the tranny issues others have been having.

Base - 5y - 75,000 -- $1100. I might have gotten it cheaper shopping around but I'm ok with it. I'll hit the mileage way before 5 years.
