Transmission HELP for a 351 Modified

Have a 1978 Ford F-250. Had a blown 351 Modified in it. Just bought another one but the 4 speed manual transmission I had with the blown motor does not fit. It has a large Bellhousing with a large flywheel. The new motor I just bought has a much smaller flywheel. Can anyone tell me what kind of transmission I need for the new motor?

sounds like you may have gotten a 351w. if you did, you will need a trans from a 289/300/302.

Well when I look up the block casting number D0AE-L it tells me it is a BOSS 351 Cleveland. I am more confused now.

A 351C has the small bell housing like a windsor, 302, 300 & I-6.
351M has the big bell housing like a 400, 429, 460.

It's easy to get fords 351s mixed up unless you are familiar with them. I'm not real familiar with the cleveland ,not ever having one. But it might be a good one to use.

What can I do to get the 351c to work with the 4 speed manual transmission and transfer case I have?

im pretty sure you said you have a 4 speed which im pretty sure they were all 435s which have a removable bellhousing. if what redsuperduty said about the 351c is true, that it uses the smaller bellhousing bolt pattern then all you should have to do is find a 435 bell that was on a 300 or a 302.
