I6 to 351 Cleveland swap

I'm just looking any tips, suggestionsor things to watch for. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

I got the 351C from a 72 LTD would the motor mounts out of the car fit or do I just have find some small block, truck mounts?

Would headers for a351M fit my cleveland? I can't see any reason why they wouldn't since heads are interchangeable.

I might as well tell you what I 'm planning to do with the motor.
-Comp Extreme Energy cam 230 236, .510 lift (with 1.5 rockers)
-full roller rockers
-600 cfm carb
-holley street Dominator intake
-3.70 mini spool
-2500 stall

Thanks for any info, advice or criticism.

Find some smal block truck mounts. Headers will bolt up but keep in mind that the 351m is much taller. they may drag.
No one has ever put 1.5 rockers on a cleveland. Only 1.7 to 1.8 will work. A spool is extremely dangerous on the street not to mention in the rain.

What year truck do you have?I have a 79 F1-50 w/351C that was orig.a 302.It bolted right up but headers are different.I tried 351M truck headers and they hit the frame because they hang lower on the Clev. due to the higher deck on the Mod.I also tried 351C Must. headers and they were real close. The Must. headers hit the crossmember that goes between the radius arm rear mounts.I could have fabbed a new crossmember that would have cleared, but it is just a stock driver so I let it go and used manifolds.O yea,I dilled the rear of the oil pan sump and welded a reinforcement inside so I could drill and tap for a drain plug.If you could find a 351M oil pan,it will work.Since the sump is longer for the extra capicity, the drain will miss the under engine cross member good.I use a little piece of sheetmetal or even cardboard to run the oil away from the crossmember.

Its good to finally hear from somebody who has put a Cleveland in a truck. Mines a 79 F100. Has a beat up inline six, it has a knock that is so loud that you can hear me from a block away.

So your saying there is no way the 351M headers will fit? They seem to be cheaper than Cleveland headers and I don't want to go with manifolds.

The 351M truck headers hang really low.The Mustang headers are a close fit,I know one guy with a 351W in a 73 f-100 that just left the crossmember between the radius arm brackets off and used Must. headers.I wouldn't do that but he only had his truck out to shows so I guess it didn't get driven enough to cause any problems.

Holy crap! I had to bring this back from the dead since it took hours to find it.
I plan on doing this swap in my 85 F150 4x4 soon. Any advice from your swap would be awsome. I plan on this thing being a prerunner type truck so the almost stock 300 won't cut it. I have a fairly built 351C that should do the high speed rompin better.

Tranny is currently the NP435 4 speed. I was thinkin to change to C6??
