Keypad default code

I have a question I have not been able to find in the archives. We have a '95 Explorer with keypad entry. The factory code has been compromised and the dealer says there is no way to re-program the factory code. This seems odd to me. That means that any previous owner of a vehicle will always have access to their old car. If it is not possible to re-program the factory code, can you replace the security control module ( or whatever it is called) and start with a new code? Thanks for any input.

It's true that the factory code cannot be removed with programming, even if you program your own code the factory code will still work. I have heard that the keyless entry module has jumpers in it that can be changed to change the factory code. This would require opening the black box and changing the jumpers.
